Descriptive list of the Daniel MacCarthy (Glas) Collection

Sliochd Feidhlimidh, the MacCarthys of Gleannacroim'. He notes though, that he thinks that Daniel left out "Blessed Thaddeus McCarthy of Ivrea". McCarthy sends Daniel the address of Reverend John O'Riordan ("a priest in ... Cloyne" [County Cork]), who copied extracts for Daniel at some point. McCarthy suggests that a Reverend C Murphy would be glad to translate for Daniel in prose or verse. He also notes that a Reverend E Murphy, who died last year, compiled an Irish dictionary containing "a great many thousand words above O'Donovan's O'Reilly" ['O'Reilly's Irish-English Dictionary with a Supplement by John O'Donovan'].

Scope and Content: McCarthy writes regarding Bishop MacCarthy Rabagh and his pedigree. Letter also includes notes written by Daniel which he says were "dictated to me by Mrs E McCarthy". He also notes that he visited the tomb of "bishop Rabagh in Cork last September [?1870] in company with Dr [Richard] Caulfield."
