Scope and Content: Eugene writes that he is sure that Daniel's son [Florence] is on the road to recovery. He says that he has not been fortunate in finding out about Randal MacCarthy. He also tells Daniel that he received letters from "Doctor Jerry's mother", regarding her family history. He notes that Cormac Glas's only daughter married Shawn mic Padraig of Ballinacariga which means there was no intermarriage between them or the Coom family. He next assures Daniel that the Old Root and Florence of Kilovinogue were great friends. He cannot recall any mention of intermarriage between the Lerraghs and the Muskerry MacCarthys. Eugene also discusses a popular song in Irish called the Boughal Bawn.
