Eugene sends Daniel his best wishes for St Patrick's day. He notes in a postscript that Felix MacCarthy, a policeman, was injured while quelling a riot in Tipperary.

Scope and Content: Eugene writes that he has given the volume [likely Daniel's book, 'A Historical Pedigree of the Sliochd Feidhlimidh, the MacCarthys of Gleannacroim'] two careful readings and says it has exceeded his expectations. He says he has forwarded the introduction to every MacCarthy he knows, and held back from sending one to the Bishop of Cloyne [John MacCarthy] until he consulted with Daniel.

Scope and Content: Eugene writes that he never heard knocking before the deaths of any members of his family, but he did hear the cry of the Banshee the night before his father died. He recalls "Old Denis" saying that members of his family had seen two funeral [parties] approaching the church following a death, one of the living and one of the dead. Eugene suggests that Daniel should send copies of his book the Eleanor [MacCarthy], and she could give them to Tim MacCarthy, the shopkeeper, to dispose of them.
