Scope and Content: Eugene thanks Daniel for sending the proceedings of the Home Rule Conference, that he hopes Daniel is in good health, and that Daniel will soon visit Ireland during this spring. Eugene then discusses how impressed Father Collins is with Daniel's study of Irish, and Collins' hope of seeing Daniel in Dunmanway in the near future. Eugene notes that he is now the oldest of the MacCarthy Glas family in Ireland. A postscript mentions a Mr Fitzgibbon of Inisling Abbey who would like Daniel to present a paper at a meeting of the archaeological society on the relationship between the White Knight and Florence MacCarthy.

Scope and Content: Eugene congratulates Daniel on the successful completion of his pedigree. He mourns how few Glas MacCarthys still live in Ireland, that there is only one Doona MacCarthy left in Ireland and how the MacCarthy Glas were among the most respectable Catholics of Dunmanway. Eugene then discusses how Dunmanway once had many Protestant families (Cox, Gillman, Bowden and Evans) and now has none. Once again, Eugene praises Daniel's devotion to the study of Irish and how he would love to know the name of Felim's father.
