Scope and Content: Eugene says he is glad to hear of Daniel's calm crossing [back to England], that he hopes Daniel will spend next summer in Ireland and that he will happily show him the former residences of his fore- fathers of Dunmanway. Eugene then discusses Angel Donoghue and regrets that Daniel did not get to see her, and mentions that she is a nurse of the Dunmanway Workhouse out of respect for her lineage in spite of her incapacity. Next, Eugene mentions Randal Oge and his family connection to the MacCarthy Glas family while also detailing the castle once in his possession as an Irish Lord. The letter ends with Eugene assuring Daniel that the Irish people yearn for the return of the old Irish titles of nobility.
