Descriptive list of the Daniel MacCarthy (Glas) Collection
Dyrragh brothers and states that he will soon visit a gentleman who is 106 years old who claims to have met Daniel's great grandfather Denis. Eugene mentions a newly published book by Dr Donovan of Trinity College Dublin which is concerned with the MacCarthy family.

Scope and Content: Eugene writes that he has been in a delicate state of health, that he has not been able to see Mr Stanton to discuss genealogical matters, and that his doctor has advised him to move to the coast to improve his health. He assures Daniel that the Jerry na Duna pedigree is correct, that Charles and Jerry were brothers and that Charles was imprisoned in defiance of the Penal Laws for being a Roman Catholic teacher. He then discusses Denis O'Leary, a third cousin of his. He also mentions Thomas MacCarthy, the poet, who was son to Angelica and brother to James and Timothy who emigrated. There is further mention of the MacCarthys of Carrignavar and their genealogy.

Scope and Content: Eugene writes that he has returned home from Courtmacsherry after staying three weeks with Reverend J MacCarthy. He has seen the pedigree that Daniel wishes to be filled and hopes to prove Owen and Cormac Glas were brothers and sons of Felim. Eugene agrees with Daniel's belief that the Glas brothers were too poor after the confiscation of their land to have any memorials. Eugene tells Daniel that he hopes to be buried in Kilbarry church. He ends the letter saying that he hopes to talk Mr Stanton as soon as possible to settle genealogical matters.

Scope and Content: Eugene writes that he received Daniel's letter and the book by Mr Cronolly [?Richard Francis Cronnelly]. He believes he has found an error in the book and he still thinks that Cormac and Owen were brothers. Eugene then discusses his visit to Mr Stanton who remembers Daniel's grandfather and great grandfather. Next, Eugene discusses [Reverend J MacCarthy] who he stayed with in Courtmacsherry, and his own family history. He recommends that a pedigree confirming Denis and Daniel as sons of Felim be made.
