Letter from James Sheehan, Honorary Secretary, U.C.C. Literary and Philosophical Society inviting Fitzgerald to speak. Copy reply declining as he has to attend a meeting of the Directors of Cork Dockyards on the day in question. 2pp 12 July 1954 Draft of letter by Fitzgerald to Alfred O'Rahilly on the occasion of the latters retirement from U.C.C. He states O'Rahilly was "burdened with many heavy responsibilities and trials" and invites him to his house to accept a small gift "I have gained so much by your advice and example that I hope you will agree to my request" and praises his "great work for the advancement of Christian Principles of life."
