Also newspaper report from the Cork Examiner referring to the incident. 2 items 1954 - 1958 767 February 1954 Copy minutes of a meeting of CHC's, with MSS. notes by Fitzgerald on reverse. 6pp 768 4 November 1954 Letter from Eugene Gayer, General Manager CHC reporting on the reduction of services, especially telegraphic services, in the Cobh Post Office. 1p 769 15 March 1956 Circular from Eugene Gayer advising of a meeting to discuss a compensation claim, and a Union Claim for increased differentials for Engineering Members. (MSS. notes on reverse by Fitzgerald refer to the setting up of the cork Economic Development council. Also typescript of rates. 2 items 770 10 August 1956 Copy of Directive from the Department of Industry and Commerce referring to the 1947 Memorandum by the Harbour Commissioners regarding the establishment of a Free Port in Cork. It states that the matter was dropped due to lack of support from potential customers and the substantial expenditure involved. Also report marked 'Private and Confidential' advocating Cork as a Free Port site. 13pp 771 19 august 1957
