After the journal entries there is a ‘Valuation of premises at Ballinacurra by Messrs Marsh (Cork) for John H Bennett (basis of his 1 st proposal to purchase same)’, 24 February 1886. [Concerning John H Bennett’s difficulties in taking control of the company on his father’s death, see, e.g., B609/1/B/4. For other valuations, see B609/6/A below]. B609/3/B/2 Journal, December 1887 to July 1908. This volume records the movement of funds between Cash, Bank, and Sundries accounts, for each month. Balances and notes of profit and loss drawn to sundries also occur at intervals. A note in the entries for August 1888 explains how net profit is calculated. Occasional notes refer to information entered in company ledgers.

B609/3/B/4 Journal, September 1917 to February 1931. This records date, charges (name of payee with brief details of charge), and breakdown of amounts. A column of [ledger reconciliation] numbers also completed.

B609/3/B/6 Bank Journal, November 1940 to December 1945. A larger format volume, noting date, name/description of charge, whether cash or cheque, and charge headings: Farm, Cereal, AGS, Insurance, Salaries, and Personal. Very similar to a cash book.
