FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATION
Records of financial administration of JHB, including cash books, bank and other journals, various types of ledger, sets of receipts, records of cheque payments, and other records. Also included are shares, taxation and rates records. As noted above, there is some overlap with barley sales and purchase records above [B609/2/I-J]. The records gathered in this section, however, were created principally for financial accounting purposes. Annual statements of account, corporate budget, and Company Secretary records have been placed in the Management and Corporate Governance section below [B609/4], with other management reporting records.

Cash Books, 1898-1971
Cash Books, 1898 to 1971. Simple records of cash received and paid out, recorded chronologically and tallied (balanced) frequently. Typical headings are date, docket number, supplier/customer name, total, and breakdown, where they apply, of other costs: Charges, AGS, Farm, Cereal, Insurance, Salaries, Rents, Sacks, Salaries, and Personal. The volumes are arranged in chronological order, although there is some overlapping of dates, and the content and format varies a little in the case of some volumes.
