MANAGEMENT OF BARLEY AND MALT PRODUCTION

Records relating to all aspects of management of barley and malt production by and on behalf of JHB. The records cover agreements and dealings with growers, sale and distribution of seed, purchase of barley, harvest returns, processing deliveries, and drying and roasting of malt. Some of the records also cover other crops, e.g. oats, as well as barley and malting by-products. There is some overlap with the more financial records in the part following (B609/3), and the presence of financial information is noted.

Barley Growers, 1951-2006

Barley Growers and Growing. Records of contracts with farmers as barley growers for JHB. The contractors agree to purchase seed from JHB, and to sell their crop to them. The section also includes files relating specifically to dealings with growers. Agreements could also cover purchase of fertiliser from JHB and payment of freight costs. See also B609/2/F/3 below. B609/2/A/1 Barley Growers’ Book, 1951-69. Volume recording growers of seed barley and binder malting barley, and samples submitted.
