John W ‘Jack’ Bennett and Gwendoline Bennett Records, 1904-38

John W ‘Jack’ Bennett and Gwendoline Bennett Records, 1904-38. Only a small number of records of the children of John H Bennett by his first marriage, to Brida Williams, are present. These consist mainly of letters and other items relating to Jack Bennett’s time at school in England and his subsequent service in the Great War. A photograph album of Gwendoline Bennett is present. A few letters from Jack and Gwen to their father are present above (B609/9/B/2), and there is much reference to them in John H Bennett’s diary. There is also reference to Gwen in the diaries of Dorothy McNeill, her stepsister. Jack Bennett was born in 1890 and was killed in action in France on 13 October 1915. Gwen was born in 1891 and died in 1952. She lived in England for most of her adult life.
