Title: The 'Bantry Boat' enroute from Bantry House to the National Museum of Ireland. The 'Bantry Boat' is a French admiral’s barge that was captured when the French army made a failed attempt to invade Ireland at Bantry Bay in December 1796. The captured boat was given to the local Irish militia commander, Richard White of Bantry House. It was donated to the National Museum of Ireland in 1944.
