19th Century Cork Sutton Mariners, Sailing Ships and Crews

While records indicate Michael Fleming purchased the Dei Gratia another family member, Martin Fleming, owned the Nellie Fleming and later purchased the beautiful (and now restored) Kathleen and May in 1908 to replace the Dei Gratiia. Martin’s daughters were named Nellie, Kathleen and May after whom those ships were named (Youghal Tourism). *IMNCL; CLIP; UK M&M; Sutton Family History; Slater’s National Commercial Directory, 1881; Youghal Tourism, Unnerving and abiding maritime mystery ; O’ Brien, Blackwater and Bride ; Scott, Irish schooner twilight.

Moved port from Skibbereen to Cork in 1863.

John Stirling had also owned Hants on which John Horrigan b.1842 (Passage West) would serve as mate in 1873. I do not believe Captain Horrigan here was the same man, but he was possibly related.
