19th Century Cork Sutton Mariners, Sailing Ships and Crews

registered elsewhere until 1864 and in James Harley’s possession only in 1865.

Captains Harley and Jones were both masters on the Harley/Scott vessels Darnley and Anne (179t) in the year of 1853. Captain George Harrington had a narrow range of birthdates on IMNCL records and remained active on Cork ships, largely in the capacity of a mate, until the end of the century. CLIP indicates this brig (Reg: 39350) was active until 1885. *IMNCL; CLIP; Lloyd’s; UK M&M; Anderson, Sailing Ships of Ireland ; O’Riordan, Portraiture of Cork Harbour Commissioners.
