(Foley) Mahony 1809-1902. Her father was Michael Mahony, merchant of Dungarvan who died on 10 Dec 1859 (Probate record). The younger Cecilia did not return to Dungarvan from Cork until after her hus band Captain Gerald Walsh’s death on the deck of the E agle at Cardiff in 1884 (Ellen Walsh Vopat’s memoir). I believe that the Cornhill was purchased by the Mahonys in the 1850s, with a home port change to Waterford, and that Cecilia (Foley) Mahony became the sole owner in 1859. After discovering the age of this ship I went back further (well before her Cork days) to find her on Lloyd’s. She initially sailed out of Liverpool, before moving to Poole, Dorset with a new captain. Captain Florence in Lloyd’ s could have been related to a Captain James Florence b.1814 of Wareham Dorset in UK M&M. CLIP; Lloyd’s; UK M&M; Sutton and Walsh Family Histories.
