Captain Richard Kinch who took the captaincy in 1875 would move Troubadour (Reg: 57092) to Dublin in 1876 and retain ownership until 1878. She would move on to the Port of Bristol in 1889 – 1904 and then to Gloucester. Captain Thomas Daunt, who also owned the Troubadour , was from Robert’s Cove, adjacent to the infamous Daunt Rock, the scourge of shipping for centuries (Appendix 6: Daunt Rock Lightship). He was previously a Mate on the West Indiaman Xarifa and obtained his Master Certificate in 1857 (see Xarifa ). Mate Robert Best would next captain the schooner Henrietta 1874 – 7. Two other Crosshaven Best family members, William and James, also captained that ship.
