Ship described as Thomas Hanford of St John (New Brunswick) in 1835 on BT120 record. Captain Arthur Herbert documented both coastal and colonial trade. Captain Denis Driscoll was a neighbour of Robert Sutton (b.1804). Robert Sutton was a shipwright who had lived on Fish St. in the early 1840s before moving to Victoria Road, where he had a residence and boatyard (Jackson; Aldwell). Robert Sutton and Captain Nicholas Reynolds (George Sutton’s son -in-law) were owners of Three Brothers of Cork. Captain John Ronayne would obtain his Master Certificate in 1852. His namesake, Captain John Ronayne (b.1819, Rostellan), would obtain his Master Certificate in 1861. Mate John Sullivan indicated the ship Thomas Sanford which is not recorded. It is more likely to be this Thomas Hanford of comparable tonnage. He obtained his Master Certificate in 1851. Mate William Webster) documented trade with St John and with Africa. He sailed on Cork vessels from 1842 until obtaining his Mate Certificate in 1851.
