Mate:
1839 – 44 William Barry b.1810 (Passage West) 1841 John Bready b.1821 (Queenstown) 1842 – 3 James Hughes Turnbridge b.1818 (Dublin) 1855 – 6 Cornelius Meany b.1823 (Cork) 1836 Joseph Sandford b.1817 (Trinidad)#288 1843 – 7 Robert Sanderson Malone b.1823 (Queenstown) 1850 William Henry Wynne Hall b.1835 (Cork) This barque was driven ashore at Crosshaven, Co Cork, 17 January 1855. She was on a voyage from Troon, Ayrshire to Cork. She was re-floated the next day (List of Shipwrecks - Wiki). The owner, George Scott 1804 – 90, was from Queenstown and his father, James Scott, was a founder of the Scott shipping company in 1835 (see Blue Jacket ). Captain William Errington was previously Master of Scott’s 123t brig Bob Logic 1834 – 7 in West Indies and timber trade, which also described the trade on Scott’s Swan during his service. Captain Garrett Barry would have been the Captain G Barry in Lloyd’s. He and Apprentice Robert Sanderson Malone both served on the Scott fleet of vessels. Garrett succeeded Robert as Master of Scott’s 411t barque Blanch, a transatlantic trader, in the late 1850s.

Additional information:
Mate Cornelius Meany (b.1823, Cork) would earn his Master Certificate in 1856.
Apprentice (future Captain) Robert Sanderson Malone on his 1851 Mate Certificate application indicated his birth in Queenstown in 1823 and received the Certificate number 63.555, whereas on his 1853 Master Certificate application he gave 1826 as his year of birth yet retained the same certificate number (Cert: 63.555). The reason remains open to speculation.
