19th Century Cork Sutton Mariners, Sailing Ships and Crews

Additional information:

The ship traded between the Bristol Channel and Cork.

The ship was owned by Captain George Sutton (b.1804) of White St, Cork (business address; his home address was 37 Wellington Road, St Luke’s). Captain Benjamin Reynolds was a brother of Captain Nicholas Reynolds (b.1822), son-in-law of Captain George Sutton (b.1804) (see Speedy ). Captain Denis Reardon (b. 16 Mar 1816), who had a long association with the Suttons, was, almost certainly, the Denis Riordan (b.1816) in IMNCL reports for Siste r. He renewed his Master Certificate in 1865, receiving the new certificate number (Cert: 74.957). In UK M&M he spelled his name Riordon.

Seaman Daniel Madden was also found on an 1866 Voyage Account (IMNCL) for the Sutton’s James Hackett .
