Portugal and Mediterranean trade with Captains George and Robert Sutton. The Suttons purchased a few of their ships from the Browns of Passage West and this ship is a probable product of their Yard. Captain George Sutton was one of five master mariner brothers from Clonakilty (Nathaniel, Thomas, George, Abraham and William Sutton). Captain Jeremiah Walsh was a son-in-law of Captain Nathaniel Sutton (b.1794, Clonakilty) and Captain George Walsh was Jeremiah’s third master mariner son. Jeremiah was a brother - in-law to Captain Robert Sutton (b.1826/29) and Mate (future Captain) Nathaniel Sutton. Captain Nathaniel (b. 1855, Cork) was a son of Captain Robert Sutton (b.1826/29). The latter was described in the Nov 1853 Clare Journal as the Captain of Alexandrina Victoria on the occasion of his marriage to Maryanne Sexton of Kilrush (Appendix 6: Breach of Contract relating to their daughter).
