Not much information has come to light on this Courtmacsherry vessel.
Captain John Twohig was closely associated with the Sutton family and was Godfather to Captain Abraham Sutton’s son, Robert, in 1839 and to Captain William Sutton’s daughter, Catherine, in 1844. His son, Captain John Twohig (b.1838, Cork) and Captain Robert Sutton (b.1832, Courtmacsherry), the son of Captain George Sutton (b.1804, Clonakilty), married two Sexton sisters from Midleton (Hannah and Eliza). Captain John Twohig senior lived on Union Quay in Cork for many years, was documented as Master of George Sutton’s Marco Polo for a voyage as late as 1881, aged about 76 years.
