Mate and Captain Austin Harley was previously on Scott’s Markland and earned his Master Certificate in 1866. Another Captain Austin Harley of Cork was born in 1827 (UK M&M). Mate Patrick Spillane (b.17 Mar 1833, Crosshaven) obtained his Mate Certificate in 1863 and was previously Mate on Hanna Anne with Captain John Spillane (b.1819, Crosshaven). He would later captain the Scott brigantine Lily Dale 1879 – 81.

John Reed had an extensively international crew, which extended down to the AB seamen here (IMNCL). He also demonstrated his preference for overseas crews on the Eliza Reed , the Chepstow and the Ninus . Captain Thomas Palmer gave two birth places (but same Certificate number), London and St Jacques, Guernsey. Captain George Palmer (b.1846, St Peters Port, Guernsey) earned his Master Certification in 1873 and was doubtless closely related to Captain Thomas Palmer.
