John Reed had an extensively international crew, which extended down to the AB seamen here (IMNCL). He also demonstrated his preference for overseas crews on the Eliza Reed , the Chepstow and the Ninus . Captain Thomas Palmer gave two birth places (but same Certificate number), London and St Jacques, Guernsey. Captain George Palmer (b.1846, St Peters Port, Guernsey) earned his Master Certification in 1873 and was doubtless closely related to Captain Thomas Palmer.
