This ship (Reg: 21003), a brigantine, was converted to a lighter (a barge) in 1882 (CLIP MNL closures). This ship was involved in some North America and Portugal trade in 1850s. The ship was in operation until George’s death in 1882. Captain Denis Riordan was previously Mate for Captain Abraham Sutton (b.1813, Clonakilty) on Girl I Love in 1845. Captain John Cook, who apprenticed on George of Kinsale in coasting in 1840 – 1 and HMS Warspite 1842 – 5, subsequently served in West Indies, North American and Lisbon trade before obtaining his Master Certificate in 1851 at the Port of Cork. Captain Maurice Neil indicated his captaincy in UK M&M
