The early captains were also likely to have been Welsh. The ship remained on CLIP until 1876.

Captain Thomas Lewis was likely to have been Lloyd’s Captain T Lewis, who was well documented on another Reed coaster, the Chepstow . Captain Watkin Richards was also documented as born in St Dogmells, which is a mile downstream from Cardigan. Apprentice Thomas Richards was probably a son of Captain Watkin Richards.
