The Pims were a major nineteenth-century Irish Quaker mercantile shipping family with major ties to Youghal and Cork City (see the Joseph R Pim ). Captain William Felkins was probably the Captain Felkins in Lloyd’s. Captain John H enry Edwards obtained his Master Certificate in 1855 after serving as Mate for five years on Perfect of Youghal under Captain Thomas Edwards (b.1803, Pembroke). Mate (future Captain) John Twohig married Eliza Sexton of Midleton, 17 Jun 1863; the wedding reception was held at the home of Captain Robert G Sutton (b.1832, Courtmacsherry), who was Eliza’s brother -in-law. Seaman (future Captain) Nathaniel Sutton was a son of Captain Robert Sutton (b.1826/29, Kinsale). Nathaniel earned his Master Certificate in 1880. The 1881 Welsh Census for Cardiff finds him as Mate of the 835t Varna along with his brother-in-law Captain Denis Driscoll (b.1838) and sister Anna [Sutton] (b.1857),Captain O’Driscoll’s wife.
