Joseph Hosford was Chairman of the Kinsale Harbour Board and his son-in-law, Thomas Crowley, would establish the Kinsale Shipping Co. in 1881. This ship was a Kinsale coastal trader. Captain Edward Moye left the George to take over the captaincy from the Welsh captain, John Davies (b.1825, Llansaintfraed) when the ship’s home port moved to Cork. Captain John Stamp was previously captain of Royal Standard of Kinsale with James Coleman as his mate.
