Ship construction information lacking. Another Minnie of Cork/Youghal (Reg: 52548) was owned by Richard Farrell of Youghal in 1868. George Sutton Jr (b.1836, Cork) owned this ship (#55500) until 1882. He was an Alderman for the NE Ward of Cork, a Cork Harbour Commissioner, and a sailmaker and chandler with his brother-in-law, Andrew Donovan (b.1834, Kinsale). George Jr was the third son (classic name sequencing in mariner families) of Captain George Sutton (b.1804, Clonakilty). Captain Philip Gough was a co-owner of Moonbeam . He apprenticed under Captain Thomas Walsh (b.1817, Dungarvan) on LaPlata in 1839 and sailed extensively on Sutton ships. Mate Frank Roche also sailed on the Sutton ships Petrel , Elisha Thayer and Sister , mostly in a mate capacity. He also sailed on the Unity , a brigantine owned by Captain Denis Whelan (b.1820, Dungarvan). The Cork Sutton merchant mariners had strong links to the maritime community of Dungarvan through their Walsh and Whelan relatives.
