This ship was abandoned at sea in 1873. IMNCL report indicates ‘lost at sea’ , Aug 1873 and Seaman (future Captain) George Sutton, a son of Captain Robert G Sutton (b.1832, Courtmacsherry) would be re-employed on the Sutton ship Staghound on 1.11.1873. Abandoned and crew rescued, she was on a voyage from Queenstown, Co Cork to Miramichi, New Brunswick (List of Shipwrecks - Wiki). This ship traded between Cork and the Dominion of Canada and the United States. It was briefly owned by George Sutton Jr (b.1836, Cork). Captain William Ryan, identified by Certificate number on UK M&M and IMNCL papers (9900) was also Master of E liza O’Keeffe . Captain Gerald L Walsh was a son of Captain Jeremiah Walsh (b.1815, Dungarvan) and a grandson of Captain Nathaniel Sutton (b.1794, Clonakilty). Mate John Bease, in application for replacement of his shipping papers, indicated the ship to have foundered on 8 Sep 1873.
