Fate of ship:

Lost 20 December 1881 voyaging from Cork to Newport. Crew of five also lost (IMNCL report). This ship was initially owned by Captain George Sutton (b.1804, Clonakilty) and then by his son, Abraham George Sutton (b.1842, Cork), who was not a mariner but was a Cork Harbour Commissioner 1869 – 89 and known for his Nationalist sentiments (he was said to have been a friend of Parnell; they would have been associated as Cork Harbour Commissioners during the 1880s). Captain George Sutton (b.1804, Clonakilty) and Abraham George Sutton (b.1842, Cork) were in business together as George Sutton & Son of White St, Cork. Two of Abraham George’s sons, Charles Joseph (b.1870) and Abraham George
