Additional information:

This ship was a West Indiaman.

Robert Carr was a butter merchant and managing director of Carr, Robert & Company. He was a Trustee of the Cork Shipowners’ Society and a Cork Harbour Commissioner 1821– 1842 (O’Riordan). Captain Richard Jameson Belcher was vague on his actual years of service in UK M&M, with an apparent overlap of dates for Kate Kearney and Richard N Parker . Mate (future Captain) Charles Fortune captained other Cork ships in this catalogue. Mate John Cook documented trade with West Indies in 1847. Seaman (future Captain) William O’Neil served in the early 1840s on Robert Lawe under Captain Nathaniel Sutton b.1794 (Clonakilty), on Girl I Love under Captain Abraham Sutton b.1813 (Clonakilty) and could have been related to Frances Neill, the wife of Captain William Sutton (b.1814, Clonakilty). He would earn his Master Certificate in 1851. Apprentice and Mate Edward Long also documented West Indies trade during both of his service periods on Kate Kearney . He would be Mate on Samuel Abbott and Simeon Hardy of Cork, both West Indies traders, and would obtain his Mate Certificate in 1850. Lloyd’s; UK M&M; UK Nat Arch BT112; Sutton Family History.
