Captain John Spillane in UK M&M record proven by certificate number 15820 to be the Captain John Spillane (b.1821, Cork) on the IMNCL report. Captain Benjamin Jeffers sailed previously on Sutton ships, as did other members of the Jeffers family. Captain John Twohig knew the Suttons well and was godfather to a couple of the Sutton children (see Patriot ). One of his Master Mariner sons, Captain John Twohig (b.1838, Cork) and Captain Robert G Sutton (b.1832, Courtmacsherry) were married to sisters, Elizabeth and Joanna (Hanna) Sexton, daughters of Denis Sexton of Midleton, ropemaker.
