19th Century Cork Sutton Mariners, Sailing Ships and Crews

Captain John Gibbons (b.1823) became the son-in-law of Captain Thomas Sutton (b.1797/98) on marrying his daughter, Catherine Sutton, on 20 Feb 1849 at St Pats, Cork. Captain John Small was likely to have been the Captain J Small in Lloyd’ s (see also the Kingston ).

Captain Thomas Walsh who was a brother of Captain Jeremiah Walsh, the son-in law of Captain Nathaniel Sutton (b.1794, Clonakilty), was previously captain of James Carmichael in 1842 (three years after Captain Thomas Sutton b.1797/98).
