Captain Thomas Sutton (b.1797/98, Clonakilty) was the second of five Clonakilty master mariner brothers; the fourth brother being the retired Captain Abraham Sutton (b.1813, Clonakilty) who owned this brigantine. Thomas would drown in the Irish Sea after a collision off the Welsh coast in 1853 (see Asiatic ).
