19th Century Cork Sutton Mariners, Sailing Ships and Crews

Fate of ship:

Holed by an anchor and sunk at Hubberston Pill, Pembrokeshire, voyaging from Cork to Cardiff, 14 December 1847 (List of Shipwrecks - Wiki). This ship documents an active Courtmacsherry shipyard in 1827. Captain Daniel Donovan documented here in BT112 is consistent with his captaincy of Cambria during 1845, documented in archival BT98/615 records at Kew.

Thomas Somerville Reeves 1789 – 1868 was a major Cork shipowner and a trustee of the Cork Shipowners Society. He was a Cork Harbour Commissioner for most of the years between 1821 and 1868 (see T S Reeves ). Captain Balley was the prior master of Perilla of Cork and would next move to Zorilda of Cork (also owned by Coates and Reeves).
