A letter from the Director of Our Lady's Choral Society inviting Rita to a performance of Handel's Messiah for the 250th Anniversary due to be performed at The National Concert Hall, Dublin on Monday 13th April 1992. He writes 'I understand that you were one of the soloists for its 200th Anniversary in 1942. 'Our Lady's Choral Society Choir are presenting the work in collaboration with the boys of the Palestrina choir. Founded in 1945 by Vincent O'Brien, first musical director of Radio Eireann and singing tutor to the great tenor John McCormack Our Lady's Choral Society comprises of members of many Roman Catholic church choirs in the Archdiocese of Dublin. Present on the occasion of their first gathering at the Capitol Theatre in Dublin on December 16th 1945 was President Sean T O'Kelly and Taoiseach Eamon de Valera. Composed in 1741 and premiered at the Music Society's rooms at Fishamble Street, Dublin on 13th April 1742. The premiere performance included choristers and soloists from two cathedrals including St Patrick's Cathedral (Dean Jonathan Swift). Soloists included mezzo soprano Susanna Cibber and librettist Charles Jennens.
