Medical Weekly Return and Extra Books
Scope and Content: Weekly returns of inmates under medical or surgical treatment. The medical return, on the left side of the page, was completed by ‘The Head Nurse in Charge’. It notes register number, name of patient, disease, days of the week when attended and number of diet, date when directions entered, and nature of directions. The ‘Extra’ section, on the right side, notes ‘extras additional to the ordinary diets for the sick’, and is completed by the Medical Officer. Medical returns are certified weekly by the Medical Officer, and the extras are examined and signed off weekly by the clerk of the Union. [See also BG118/GA/7 above.]
