Refers to attitudes in banking. Refers to speech by Mr. Norton of the Labour Party. Says Irish life is full of paradoxes and ironies, very anti-English but crowds attend cinemas showing English films and read English publications. Refers to Winston Churchill's recent article on the Free State and 'Ulster'. Discusses the 'restraining influence' of religion in Ireland, and the 'land question' and 'landlordism' and opposition to the use of machinery on the land, and the 'crime of Russian Bolshevism' to 'fix men's minds upon this Earth alone...and the supplying of their bodily needs...'.

Appears to contain quotations from de Róiste's previous lectures, writings or journal. He gives each a quasi-philosophical response. The quotations are dated 5 Feb 1918, c1927, 14 Apr 1913, 10 Jul 1917, 18 Mar 1908, 6 Jul 1900 and the responses are dated Feb 1933. Subjects include the life of the ancestors, 'Are we to go back? If so, how far back? Then the query arises, were the mass of the people happier then than now?', also 'The case for protection of industry in S 'E (Southern Ireland)', 'the idea that work, enterprise, good management, capital are necessary for industries does not appeal in Ireland...', and 'The one thing that, despite all the hates and vindictiveness, all the injustice, pride and uncharitableness, all the lying and hypocrisy and meanness which exist, lives really and in truth in Ireland, is religion'. Also, 'Ideals', referring to statement that Ireland has been fighting for liberty for 750 years.
