Gives names and details of each member of the committee including Sean O'Caoimh, co-founder of Cork Young Ireland Society who was employed in the Cork Examiner. The classes of students visualised included '...bona fide gaelic league teachers, primary and secondary school teachers, and individuals who wished to become teachers'. Recalls a few personal reminiscences of local characters and visitors, including that of Terence MacSwiney staying at 'The Lodge' of the Cronin’s and a walk with MacSwiney in the hills to Tuirindubh, 'Traolach and myself had been friends and associates since boyhood. The stress and the strain, the glory and the tragedy of events to come were hidden in the womb of the future. The memory of that quiet evening in the hills may have come to mind when I knelt by his deathbed in Brixton Prison...'. Refers to Irish language affairs including the proposal for payment of fees for teaching of Irish in national schools by the National Board for Education and the Department of Agriculture and Technical Instruction. Many who attended the college in 1906 were 'merely learners of the language', leading to conflict over the use of English. Land was secured and a college built which was opened 4 Jul 1914.
